Reuse of wastewater in agriculture as fertiliser for agricultural uses.
Our company developed a water treatment train that allows for the recovery of nitrogen as ammonium salts from wastewater through zeolites adsorption and membrane contactor separation, also recovering phosphorus as struvite through crystallisation. A large scale validation of these technologies is underway as part of the LIFE ENRICH and DIGESTAKE projects.
LIFE ENRICH has assessed the suitability of phosphorus recovery prior to anaerobic digestion as a sustainable alternative to increase the amount of this non-renewable natural resource. DIGESTAKE, meanwhile, has demonstrated the potential for using liquid and gaseous effluents from anaerobic digestion of urban WWTP sludge to recover and recover a wide range of resources.
