AWARD

Alternative water resources to increase resilience to climate change

Project website

AWARD

The overall objective of AWARD, a project funded by the Horizon Europe programme, is to provide knowledge on how to effectively integrate alternative water sources (AWR), such as urban runoff and reclaimed water, among others. These sources must be affordable and safe to incorporate into strategic water supply planning and implementation, taking into account the effect of global climate change.

AWARD will provide evidence-based solutions for considering AWRs in strategic water supply plans, based on socio-political engagement. AWARD’s 4 demonstration cases are already implementing AWRs (stormwater, rainwater and aquifer recharge in Bucharest (Romania), Milan (Italy); water reclamation in Cyprus and stormwater runoff in industrial park in Santiago de Compostela, (Spain).
